Dennis plans to transfer to a 4-year school to complete his collegiate eligibility in either the spring or fall of 2008. His professional goal is to become an electrician or real estate executive. His athletic goal is to qualify for the U.S. Championships and Olympic Trials. He has a PR of 1:56.13 for 800 meters and 400m relay leg best of 49.3.
“Paul and Dennis are great additions to our growing Men’s Middle and Long Distance Corps, says Club Director and Distance Coach Skip Stolley. I think Paul is going to thrive in Southern California’s ultra-competitive distance running environment, and Dennis has ‘scary’ speed and middle distance talent that has just begun to surface.”

TREVOR KRAYCHIR & JOHN TEMIDARA WIN AT OXY
LOS ANGELES, CA—Trevor Kraychir won the men’s hammer throw with a PR toss of 197’ 1” (60.07m) and John Temidara won the triple jump at the 27th annual Oxy Invitational at Occidental College—the final qualifying meet in Southern California for the 2007 NCAA Regional Meets and NAIA national championships.
A senior at 29 Palms High School, Trevor has accepted a full scholarship to attend Boise State next fall. Trevor’s younger brother Trent Kraychir, a junior at Palmdale High School, placed 5th in the field of open and collegiate throwers.
While John Temidara’s winning leap of 49’5 ½” (15.07m) was far from a season best, he beat a good field—including VS teammate Ronald Carter, who placed 2nd. A 4-time qualifier for the NCAA Championships in the high jump, John placed 3rd at the 2006 NCAA Championships in the triple jump. One of the most versatile collegiate jumpers in America while at Long Beach State, he has bests of 24’2” (LJ), 7’3” (HJ), and 53’3” (TJ). He was also a member of the 2006 USA Team for the NACAC Championships held in the Dominican Republic.
Kids inspire Isinbayeva to scale new heights
With every title in pole vaulting now in her possession, sultry Russian pin-up Yelena Isinbayeva could be forgiven if her motivation were to wane. But the "chick with the stick", as she's been dubbed by the sport's promoters, is as fiercely ambitious as ever, drawing her inspiration from children all over the world who want to follow in her footsteps. "I have achieved a lot, but I have to keep going for the kids," says the 24-year-old, who is busy promoting the Russian city of Sochi's bid for the 2014 Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games.
The world, Olympic and European champion, Isinbayeva was the first woman to clear five metres, and has set 20 world records on her way to becoming the undisputed pole vault queen.

JEFF RYAN JUMPS 17’ 8½” IN SEASON DEBUT TO WIN STEVE SCOTT INVITATIONAL
After being side-lined almost 2-months with an injured wrist, VS Athletics Track Club pole vaulter, Jeff Ryan scaled 17’ 8½” (5.40m) to win the annual Steve Scott Invitational at UC-Irvine. After jumping a PR 18’ ½” (5.50m), Jeff was looking forward to a great season in 2007. Those plans were stalled however by a slip in the weight room followed by an awkward landing on his wrist. Initially diagnosed as a severe sprain, doctors later concluded it was most likely broken. While he has been doing other training and drills, he has only been able to plant a pole for the past 10-days. Jeff’s win was a great comeback that puts his big plans for 2007 back on track.
