After being side-lined almost 2-months with an injured wrist, VS Athletics Track Club pole vaulter, Jeff Ryan scaled 17’ 8½” (5.40m) to win the annual Steve Scott Invitational at UC-Irvine. After jumping a PR 18’ ½” (5.50m), Jeff was looking forward to a great season in 2007. Those plans were stalled however by a slip in the weight room followed by an awkward landing on his wrist. Initially diagnosed as a severe sprain, doctors later concluded it was most likely broken. While he has been doing other training and drills, he has only been able to plant a pole for the past 10-days. Jeff’s win was a great comeback that puts his big plans for 2007 back on track.
